Community organizers are planning to descend on the East Market Street McDonald’s today at noon to protest anti-gay discrimination.

The Fairness Campaign, ACLU-KY and other social justice groups organized the protest in response to a run-in several out-of-town customers had with an employee of the fast-food restaurant in July. A woman working behind the counter allegedly called the group of customers “faggots” and other anti-gay slurs, and then called one of the men a “cocksucker” and “bitch.”

The supervisor on duty reportedly refused to issue a refund, and the customers say subsequent attempts to resolve with matter with the company have been unsuccessful. The group has since filed a complaint with the Louisville Human Relations Commission.
