What’s more embarrassing — having your mugshot broadcast for being arrested for driving under the influence or having your own news organization report it?
WLKY-32 reports that while driving on Interstate 64 in Shelby County, WLKY-32 news anchor and investigative reporter John Boel was pulled over and later charged with DUI on Sunday. He was also charged with possession of an open alcohol container and later released on his own recognizance.
It’s the lead story. Ouch!
Maybe it was wise of WLKY to cover the story before other news organizations took their swipe. Or maybe it was a cheap ratings grab. Still, it has to be a bit awkward for even the most level headed professional to have a story hit so close to home.
According to the ‘Ville Voice, Glenn Haygood, WLKY’s general manager, has spoken to Boel but did not indicate when he’d return to the air. We’ll keep you posted.

I hope that WLKY did not fire John for his DUI
charge. I’m sure other ones he works with drove at one time or another with a few under their belts but were lucky and did not get caught. I think he deserves another chance.
There is no way they will ever let go someone whom has more emmy’s than the other two 3 stations combined!
