GE sale on hold: Perhaps the only good news to come out of this recession — GE is postponing plans to sell its appliances and lighting division in Louisville because the current economy is not conducive to such a sale. At least for now, it seems there’s a safety net for the division’s 5,000 workers.
Up in smoke?: Louisville’s smoking ban is back in court once again. Today, the Kentucky Court of Appeals will consider the ordinance, which prohibits smoking in all bars, restaurants, bingo halls and other public places. A ruling is expected early next year.

Newspaper news: Desperate times call for drastic measures: The Detroit Free-Press has announced plans to significantly scale back home delivery. The daily paper will continue to produce daily news content online, but will only deliver a paper to homes on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
