Metro Council Democrats voted by secret ballot to endorse Councilman David Tandy, D-4, as their choice for Council President. Tandy will face Republican James Peden, R-23, in January at the first council meeting of the new year. With a robust 16-10 Democratic majority next year Councilman Tandy is the favorite.
UPDATE: Councilman Rick Blackwell, D-12, wouldn’t say what the official tally for Council President was, but word is the Democratic caucus vote was 12 for Tandy, 1 for Madonna Flood, D-24, 1 abstention (Tina Ward-Pugh, D-9) and 1 written so badly in chicken scratch it was indescribable.
