D.C. bound: Mayor Jerry Abramson and leaders of several other major cities will meet with President Obama at the White House Friday to discuss how the national economic stimulus package will create jobs. The mayor predicts: “This money will have a real impact in Louisville — it will put people to work repairing roads and bridges and building new school classrooms.”
Oh Ashley: Much-loved Kentuckian Ashley Judd chastised the coal industry in Frankfort at the I Love Mountains rally yesterday. Apparently the actress is “proud to be a hillbilly.”
Eastern Kentuckians react: Appalachian folk give mixed reviews on Diane Sawyer’s recent “20/20″ report entitled, “A Hidden America: Children of the Mountains.” Harlan County Mayor calls it, “The same load of crap they’ve been doing for 40 years.”
Saving homes: Today the president plans to unveil a program aimed at preventing foreclosures. The $75 billion initiative is expected to help up to 9 million homeowners at risk of losing their houses.
Shit jobs: A hilarious look at the crappy jobs many of us have had at one point or another. For me it was slinging leftover hamburger trash at W.W. Cousins at age 15.
