Of all the movies that have been shot in the River City, only one of them depicted our city’s skyline engulfed by a nuclear mushroom cloud: “Return of the Living Dead Part II” (largely filmed in Cave Hill Cemetery, the film was directed by the co-writer of “Alien” and features lots of laughs, gore, and nudity for the whole family to enjoy).
Now, courtesy of this nifty mashup between Google Maps and global thermonuclear war, you can discern the fallout from an actual atomic blast — even an asteroid impact. Geeky! (Zombies/Bruce Willis not included)

Sweet! (The zombies in Louisville, not the nuclear fallout.)

Um….
imdb.com:
Filming locations for Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988)
Newhall, California, USA
Santa Clarita Valley, California, USA
Sierra Madre, California, USA
The scene in question where Louisville gets nuked is from the first Return Of The Living Dead, not the second one.
As for it being filmed in Cave Hill, it wasn’t. None of the return of the Living Dead movies and none of Romero’s “Dead” movies were filmed in Cave Hill oreven in Louisville, KY. Return of the Livinc Dead took place in Louisville, but was filmed in California.
