The indefatigable crew of 8664 has released a collection of new renderings of downtown Louisville, which in this version of the future appears to become an urban utopia. As the General Assembly begins to again consider the idea of a tolling authority — yep, our little ol’ river burg would have bridges with tolls, like a big boy city — the boys behind the most radical idea this side of a $4.1 billion bridge-building project report that they’re not getting much face time at the capitol.
But they’re sure playing on our attention spans these days. Behold, three new pics and a video. Quite a sight.

A picture is worth $4.1 billion.
Gah! How did we not come up with that one? Too early in the morning, I suppose.
Wow. It almost looks like some sort of river city. Wish I lived there. There just something about a city with a park that joins the city to its water that is worth any amount when compared to a city separated from its river by smog and concrete… priceless.
Waterfront Park is also a floodplain, people. The water WILL rise again. Go down to 3rd & River Road and look up at the marks still there on the posts from the 1997 flood. To stay above water, the “parkway” would have to be built on top of a levee that is just as high as the current I64. I’d rather keep the wharf and Waterfront Park accessible underneath the highway than replace it with a parkway on top of a levee.
