KY: 4th Worst in Nation for Child Homelessness

As if the state hasn’t topped enough depressing national rankings lists already, this latest report from the National Center on Family Homelessness ranks the Bluegrass State 46th in child homelessness rates based on population, and 42nd worst overall — even Michigan beat us, which is kind of like getting upstaged in a spelling bee by a dyslexic (possibly homeless) kid.

So in addition to being among the fattest (we rank 7th), our children are also among the most likely to sleep in vans beneath underpasses — or nothing at all — while their parents are working the third shift at Wal-Mart.

But look on the bright side: we’ll all be homeless soon, so it kind of evens out, right?
