The irascible inspector

Yes, R.G. Dunlop’s piece in today’s C-J about the irascilbe state mining inspector who faked reports about mine safety and other things that mean a lot to the preservation of actual lives is important public-service reporting. But *gasp* mine eyes have rarely seen such profanity vulgarity in the pages of the state’s largest daily newspaper!

Although the eds. took it down promptly, we caught this fancy little slip-up online this morning:

Ye olde profanity in C-J

Ye olde profanity in C-J

We’ve taken — (shit) from the more puritanical Louisvillians for years because we allow all manner of potty words in the pages and webspace of LEO. It’s reflective of how most humans speak, and we want to offer realistic portrayals. Etc etc, ad infinitum.

Oh, and speaking of shitty editing, here’s another item passed over, from the same web story:

To 'sic' or not to 'sic'
