The “Being Seen and Being Green” forum at the Speed Art Museum on Friday, April 17 had three speakers: Dan Jones of 21st Century Parks, U of L Provost Shirley Willihnganz and wHY principle architect Kulapat Yantrasast (wHY is doing the Speed’s expansion).
Jones told the audience that 21st Century Parks (www.21parks.org) is “The finest urban edge in America,no one else is doing anything like it.” The 20-mile belt of green has its groundbreaking in 2010, with the proposed completion in 2013-2014.
The University of Louisville (www.louisville.edu) has implemented its Master Planning and Sustainability (the “20/20 Plan”) on how to make the university and the people on it more eco-friendly.
The Speed Art Museum (www.speedmuseum.org) expansion and renovation is scheduled for completion in 2012. wHY designed the Grand Rapids Art Museum, the first new green museum to receive LEED Gold certification
