A House Divided (& Then Some)

Although I’d rather let the video speak for itself, a few primers are necessary:

(1) I was attending the GOP’s Lincoln Day dinner, held at The Galt House’s Grand Ballroom A, assigned to cover the ensuing hilarity of Sens. Jim Bunning and Mitch McConnell breathing the same local air.

(2) While attempting (1), I was violently assaulted by J.D. Sparks, the gentleman featured in the video, for simply holding a digital video recorder, of which there were many in the room.

(3) Although it’s hard to tell, Mr. Sparks was holding my arms for most of our “waltz” together; so firm was his grip that yr. humble correspondent’s right arm was riddled with scratches, bruises, and other badges of honor.

(4) “Miss Andi Johnson” is the Communications Director for the Republican Party of Kentucky, and as such gave me the green-light to be there. (She also happens to be a very nice person who doesn’t deserve the headache)

Enjoy:

WOW. that is so fucked up. are charges being pressed? was this guy even responsible for any aspect of this event, or just trying to regulate for no reason?

Advice to JD: Better watch attacking people like this in the future. Not only are you going to get caught, but the next guy, or likely girl, will kick the crap out of what little brains you have that you sit on each day. The facebook page is great. I think JD never got out of high school. If I had been Mr. Meador, I would have taken your left middle finger and jammed it up your right nostrel. What a complete jackass, are you Bunnings grandbaby or something?

Cintel Corp (502) 657-6077 had no comment on JD’s assault on the reporter from LEO. Wow, JD has lots of friends, almost 12 pages. The only people that have that many friends and spend that much time on Facebook are 14 year old girls on my neighborhood’s swim team. Sweet. But, I think I know Les Fugate, Steve Goldberg, Kim Washburn, Sami Sturgeon (hubba, hubba), Davud Harris, and Sally Baxter. But I don’t like Star Wars, Grease, Tom & Jerry, or Fight Club.

  35. Rene Thompson

I hate to bring this up but you might want to also ask that Mr. Sparks provide you with proof that he doesn’t have any diseases such as AIDS since he did break the skin. Just to be careful.

You might also ask the individuals running the show why the police weren’t called when an invited member of the press is assaulted…

Hope you arms are healing well.

  36. Sherman
    Posted May 12, 2009 at 11:34 pm | Permalink

Mr Meador, I believe you should ask for medical records or have some type of blood check on JD since he broke skin. That really isn’t a laughing matter. You never know about people’s past follies, especially folks who behave the way this jerk did at the meeting. By the way, has Cintel Corp commented on their beloved VP that they glorify on their web-site. Also, has anyone contacted the Oldham county officials to advise them of this butthead’s intention to run for office out there? Scary! His Facebook page is grounds to put him on the wacko alert.

Here is a rant by JD that I found on the internet. Hey Jonathon Meador, the guy was likely packing…best that you didn’t lay him out as he deserved, he might have taken some radical action based on the following rant. Jackass with temper and guns end badly…

    Comments
The problem with this type of article is that it tries to assume that a gun in the house is a problem. It is a slow step towards what have become the left’s mantra of hatred for guns and gun owners. Your kids don’t need to play somewhere else because a gun is in my house. In fact a house with a pool is much more deadly to children than my guns!
The problem with your excuses is that the facts don’t bear fruit to your claims. The areas of the country where there are more guns see much less crime, and gun accidents. When you make guns evil you commit the fallacy of the “forbidden fruit” syndrome and then the first thing kids want to do is touch the first gun they see. You actually cause more damage than you prevent.

What a freaking douchebag…. Clearly has “anger management” issues….

    He’s an ex-marine too…. Grrreeeeaat.

An ex-marine yuppie — of course, he’s not “urban”, so “yuppie” doesn’t really apply — who’s seen “Falling Down” one too many times.

In case noone’s noticed/posted it, he ALSO has his own website:

I knew JD over 10 years ago when he worked at UPS. Then he was an arrogant punk who just go out of the marines. JD to the best of my knowledge has no degrees and I suspect the company he is “VP” in is a scam. I don’t know that to be the case, but I was close enough to JD to realize, at least 10 years ago, that he made a horrible part time employee at UPS and could not imagine him in any other facet excluding welfare case.

I don’t know JD all that well, but I know he’s a generally nice guy and I know he has been involved with some charity work. Sorry to hear that you two had a run-in.

I think he did make a good point, though maybe not communicated as well as he could have, that covertly carrying around a minicam at a political event trying to catch people off guard seems a little lame. - If that’s what you were doing. - That’s obviously what he thought you were doing anyway.
