GOP Death Watch: Day 10,203

Whenever G. Gordon Liddy opens the fetid, bile-stained maw that is connected to the shining globular den of evil that is his head, only bad things will happen.

… [T]here’s a real split on the right between elected officials, particularly in the Senate, who have jobs to keep, and radical figureheads in the conservative movement who want to push the Republican party closer to the fringe. Sotomayor’s nomination has unveiled, and widened, that divide. On one side of it, are conservative Republicans like Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX). And on the other, are people like G. Gordon Liddy, who took to the radio yesterday with this sentiment, “Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when [Sotomayor]‘s menstruating or something, or just before she’s going to menstruate. That would really be bad. Lord knows what we would get then.” [via TPMDC]

Oh no he didn’t! The funny part? Liddy and his ilk had no problem with Justice Samuel Alito’s menstrually-rooted pangs of “empathy” when that crazy eyetalian started talking about fuggetaboutits or canoli or something.

Justice should be blind. Sotomayer will not judge blind, by her own comments. Liddy is over the top and makes conservatives looks like we’re all radical. How about having the best PERSON for this most important job. By the way, Republicans and Democrats are mostly crooks in my view for the most part. Talk about favoritism, Martin Luther King is crying right now.

Menstruation? With those man tits of his, G. Gordon should be more worried about lactation.

My mom pointed out that in all likelihood, Sotomayor is past her menstruating days, and this guy is an idiot for not even considering that his misogynist comment is being directed at a likely post-menopausal woman. Really? Still fear mongering about the crazy ladies on their crazy periods? That is textbook sexism.

Also, Sotomayor has the same ability as any white man to separate her human bias (which all non-robot judges have) from the facts of the case and the law, and decide accordingly.

Also, you missed the line in the quote where he refers to the Spanish language as “Illegal Alien”.

@Kathryn: I don’t think I really “missed” that line. Consider this: “If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it, is G. Gordon Liddy still a racist fuck?” Most likely.
