Rallying the troops: Hundreds of protestors rallied on the steps of the state Capitol in Frankfort Wednesday morning in support of legislation that would allow slots at Kentucky racetracks. Jockey Calvin Borel — winner of this year’s Kentucky Derby and Preakness — attended the rally, during which Gov. Steve Beshear and former Gov. Brereton Jones spoke in favor of expanding gambling to help save the state’s struggling horse racing industry.

Correcting the record?: Two former Metro Corrections officers have filed a lawsuit claiming they were fired for reporting illegal behavior by Metro Corrections Director Michael Bolton. They claim Bolton threatened their jobs after they testified at a sexual harassment investigation. The officers say they felt compelled to come forward after Bolton held a press conference last week claiming he had received multiple threats to his safety, asking the FBI to investigate.
Gay marriage in D.C.: Opponents of a movement to legalize same-sex marriage in the nation’s capital have filed a lawsuit to overturn a ruling by D.C. election officials saying voters do not have the right to decide whether the District can recognize gay marriages performed in other juristictions.
