WHAS-Radio personality and LEO Weekly columnist Francene Cucinello has died, the station announced Friday afternoon. The morning talk radio host entered the hospital Monday following an apparent heart attack. She died at Norton Hospital on Friday. She was 43.
In July 2008, LEO ran a cover story on Cucinello, who hosted the popular “Francene Show” on 84 WHAS since October 2003.
“Those of us at LEO who had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Francene are utterly shocked and deeply saddened by the news of her death,” says Sarah Kelley, editor of LEO Weekly. “Her voice, while often controversial, was a mainstay in Louisville and beyond. She will be missed.”

I am so sad. I felt like she was a best friend.
I pray all the happy memories will help her family and friends through this very sad time.
I will miss my friend. We never met in person, but she was there for me for the three years I’ve been in Kentuckiana. As a newcomer to the area, it took me a while to find like-minded people as friends. Francene was there from the beginning. We developed an email friendship and corresponded regularly. I hope she knows how much her friendship meant to me.
Although never seeing her face or knowing her last name I feel as if I have lost my best friend. She was a pleasure to listen to and in this world of electronic conversation made sense of it all. Peace to her family for they need not worry about this soul. Bravo Francene !
