Anti-SB6 hip-hop video released

The coalition of social justice groups and regular citizens united to fight Sen. President David Williams’ pet SB-6 (which will pretty much make it a crime to be Hispanic in the state of Kentucky) has released a hip-hop music video titled “My Own,” by Ryan Prater, which was filmed in downtown Louisville.

Rand Paul calls Roe v. Wade “horrific judicial travesty,” seeks return to 19th century

Now that he’s thrown his weight behind the so-called Life at Conception Act, Kentucky’s junior Sen. Rand Paul wants to throw women (i.e. less-hairy, non-male humans) in the slammer for aborting fetuses of Providence. In this free-market spirit, Paul issued a statement yesterday declaring  Roe v. Wade a “horrific judicial travesty,” capitalizing on the 38th anniversary of [...]

What’s up with Todd Lally’s website?

Nearly two months after an election that retained incumbent Democrat John Yarmuth as Louisville’s 3rd District representative, the campaign of Yarmuth’s failed GOP challenger, UPS pilot Todd Lally, has issued a death rattle via Facebook and Twitter, and in so doing revealed a campaign website that has been taken over by what appears to be [...]

Holsclaw to enter govenor’s race

After mulling over the field of candidates, Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw told reporters she plans to enter the race for governor of Kentucky before the Tuesday deadline. The Louisville Republican’s entry makes the GOP primary a three-way race, including State Senate President David Williams, R-Burkesville, and Louisville businessman Phil Moffett, who have already filed.

Yarmuth named to Oversight Committee

In the minority for the first time since being elected to Congress in 2006, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Ky., has been appointed to the high-profiled House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, a panel that is expected to evaluate a number of important issues in the federal government. From Yarmuth’s office: “Over the last four years [...]

Yarmuth, Grayson to discuss political tone

In the aftermath of the deadly shooting rampage in Arizona, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Ky., and outgoing Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson are scheduled to participate in a panel discussion about the necessity of returning civility to the country’s public discourse. The forum, entitled “Do Words Matter in Political Discourse? A Community Discussion,” will [...]

Beshear ditches governor’s debate because he was “busy being governor.”

Just ignore the competition, refer voters to your weak-sauce website and hump the Chinese yuan: These silly debates will take care of themselves. Although the debate just ended, peep this from The Bowling Green Daily News (bold emphasis mine): Republican gubernatorial candidates David Williams and Phil Moffett, as well as independent Gatewood Galbraith, will participate [...]

Military-industrial-congressional-complex alive and well and screwing you over right now

On the 50th anniversary of President Dwight Eisenhower’s prescient farewell address, your Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives is busying itself with the futile, symbolic task of repealing “Obamacare” for reasons that aren’t hard to understand. If you’re watching this sad spectacle on C-SPAN, you’ll no doubt hear a lot of erroneous talk coming from the GOP about [...]

Cheney “intrigued” by Indiana governor

Former vice president and human paraquat  Dick Cheney emerged from his Intel clean room long enough to inform NBC that he is “intrigued” by Indiana Gov. Mitch “Eat The Poor” Daniels as a presidential candidate for 2012. According to TPM, Cheney said he likes Mitch because “he’s got a breadth of experience, as OMB Director [...]

Pastor sentenced to two years in federal prison

After a three year investigation, the Rev. Henry Humphrey, pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church, was sentenced to two years in federal prison for defrauding the U.S. government. The case stemmed from the west Louisville minister’s failed attempt to turn the old Maupin Elementary School into an affordable housing complex for senior citizens, which used a [...]
