May Day rally set for downtown Louisville

This weekend, we strongly urge you to get out and enjoy the weather by attending the massive May Day celebrations being held Sunday at downtown’s Jefferson Square Park, starting at 3 p.m., to maybe tacitly show the Scott “Koch whore” Walkers and Rick “OCP” Snyders of the world that we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take anymore of their shit.

There will also be puppets.

(Louisville, Ky)  The Kentucky May Day Coalition, composed of labor unions, religious groups, civil rights and immigrant/worker rights organizations, will assemble at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1st, at the Financial Square at 4th  and Jefferson, do a walking tour called a March of Resistance ending at the Fountains on Witherspoon near the Chow Wagon for a Soapbox Worker Speakout followed by interactive fliering [sic] activities outside the KY Derby Food Court.  Speakers and performers will include local union members, immigrants, folk singers, religious leaders and social justice activists. There will be an appearance by Giant STAND UP FIGHT BACK Puppets, clowns, and music from popular local artists.

The event is sponsored by Kentucky May Day Coalition, which includes local labor unions, religious organizations and civil and immigrants’ right groups as well Kentucky Jobs With Justice. Here’s the event’s Facebook page if you’re so inclined.

Also, in case you don’t know what in the hell May Day is celebrated for, it’s to honor people who died slaving over (and later being killed and/or jailed for protesting) the 12-hour work days that corporations used to expect from human beings … or just click here.

Another reason why many are so fond of Instagram is because of the way you can connect with friends and family all
over the world. And not by much more than that of any other business, be it a chiropractor
or a plumber. The ace up its sleeve is it ability to condense traffic to
85 percent while surfing the net.
