When we last saw Doug Hawkins in December, shortly after his narrow defeat in the 25th District Metro Council race to David Yates, he was snorting and sobbing his way through a goodbye address to the council — which sadly neglected to mention the hordes of Mexicans that were soon to annex Louisville in his absence.
But I bring good news! Ole Dougie is coming back to be kicked around some more.
cn|2 caught up with Hawkins, who told them that he’s looking to run again for either state House or Senate next year:
Unfortunately, there are no elected positions within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that he can run for, but perhaps President Herman Cain can appoint him to something in 2013.
But seriously, think about it: a Perry Clark vs. Doug Hawkins rematch next year for state Senate? I don’t know if there’s a room big enough to hold the conspiracy theories those two will bring to the table, but it sure would be fun to watch.

He’s lost a house race, a senate race and a council race, finishing a paltry 2-3 in elections. Of the two opponents he actually beat, one was a cardboard cut-out of an actual Democrat, the other the victim of a vicious, homophobic smear campaign via robo-call. His wrecking crew is aging and running out of ideas.
Bring it on.
