Just a week after the Ohio River was named the dirtiest river in America, the Metropolitan Sewer District has done its best to turn the knob all the way up to 11:
The Metropolitan Sewer District reported a sewage spill of 2.5 million gallons into the Ohio River on Wednesday.
The spill was caused by an electrical failure at the agency’s Starkey Pump Station 147 Buchanan St. in Butchertown, said Brian Bingham, a senior MSD engineer. He said the overflow began about 9:20 a.m. and stopped after MSD crews made repairs about two hours later.
