David Williams leaving the Senate?

We heard through a reliable Republican grapevine today that Senate President David Williams might soon be appointed by Gov. Beshear to a circuit judge position in his home county, filling the spot of 20-year Circuit Judge Eddie C. Lovelace, who passed away Monday night at the age of 78.

LEO asked Williams spokeswoman Lourdes Báez-Schrader if there was any truth to the rumor, and she replied “that is a question for Gov. Beshear.” When asked if Williams is interested in the position, she said that Lovelace hasn’t even been buried yet, and Williams would have no comment on the matter.

Beshear spokeswoman Kerri Richardson did not deny the possibility either, telling LEO that they would not comment on Lovelace beyond the condolences that Beshear’s office sent out yesterday.

Truth? Or statewide rumor mill started by Democrats’ wishful thinking? We’ll fill you in if we hear more.

It would be nice to get the Judge’s name correct. It is Lovelace and not Loveless. He was an honorable man and deserves his due respect.
