LEO Weekly hires new publisher

SouthComm CEO Chris Ferrell has announced that Louisville native David Brennan will assume the role of LEO Weekly publisher next month. For the past two years, Brennan has served as publisher of Folio Weekly, the alternative newsweekly in Jacksonville, Fla., where he’s worked for the past decade.

“I am thrilled Dave is returning to Louisville to work with LEO,” Ferrell says. “I have known of his work for several years in Jacksonville, and I look forward to him bringing that experience back to his hometown paper.”

In addition to taking the helm at LEO in late October, Brennan will serve as group publisher for SouthComm in Louisville.

“The opportunity to join the amazing team at SouthComm is especially rewarding for me as a Louisville native because of all the fond memories I have of the city and the people,” says Brennan. “I remember reading the first issue of LEO and could not have imagined then how important the publication would ultimately be in my life. I am looking forward to getting started.”

He also joked that, “Learning the Watterson Expressway construction was finished years ago made the decision for my family to move much easier.”

Pam Brooks — who currently serves as publisher for both LEO and NFocus Magazine — will remain publisher of the latter, focusing her efforts on growing that publication in Louisville.
