Tip line ordinance filed

After it lingered in the mayor’s office for nearly five years, members of the Metro Council have bypassed the administration and filed an anonymous tip line ordinance that would provide Metro employees with a 24/7 reporting system to blow the whistle on fraud, misconduct, abuse and other unethical behavior in the workplace.

Tip line story picking up steam

As you might imagine, some city officials are upset about Phillip M. Bailey’s story “Whistleblowers blocked?“, in this week’s LEO. The big chill: Seriously! It’ll feel like it’s -8 degrees tonight. The suggestion of wearing thermals underneath would help if only [...]

State of the City with Mayor Jer

It’s become an annual LEO event for me to interview Mayor Jerry Abramson for a look back/look forward piece at the beginning of a new year. Last week, we spent a little over an hour talking mostly economic issues, given the city’s revenue and budget woes. The whole thing runs in print Wednesday. Here’s an [...]

About 250 people gathered earlier tonight at the Southwest Government Center on Dixie Highway to officially establish a group called Friends of Otter Creek Park, whose goal — although at this point still vague in terms of action — is to persuade Metro government to reopen the recently closed Meade County park, which the city [...]
