YouthBuild Receives Grant, Hope

The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded a nearly $700,000 grant to YouthBuild Louisville, an organization that aids unemployed, undereducated and generally disadvantaged teens and twenty-somethings in the River City.
The grant will allow the organization, which provides job training and high school education to disadvantaged 16- to 24-year-olds, to operate for another two years.

Stimulus Grants $4,600 to Recessionary-Challenged

Despite the rain, here’s some good news for the Commonwealth: $3 million in Federal stimulus funds will be disbursed to the recipient’s school of choice in an effort to re-educate Kentucky’s legions of laid-off workers. Via WAVE-3.com:

In order to raise visibility of the stimulus’ impact, President Obama today unveiled an emblem (pictured at left) that will adorn each and every highway expansion, bridge paint job, and bus stop that is under construction and paid for by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.
