… ’cause an LMPD party don’t stop until you’re thrown in your own drunk tank.

Behold as Louisville Metro Police Officer Lauren Fanning, 24, plays Harvey Keitel to her 23-year-old sister Kathryn’s Nic Cage in “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call: Molly Malone’s“:

Louisville Police commanders expect to decide later this week whether Lauren Fanning will remain a police officer after she was arrested early Saturday morning following an altercation at a bar.

Fanning, 24, who is on probation until Jan. 29, was arrested just before 3 a.m. Saturday after allegedly trying to interfere with her sister’s arrest and assaulting a fellow officer at Molly Malone’s Irish Pub, 3900 Shelbyville Road. Fanning was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and minor injury assault.

…

An off-duty police detective who was working outside the bar asked the women to leave and take a cab home, the arrest slip said. When the women refused to leave, the detective attempted to put Kathryn Fanning under arrest, at which time she allegedly kicked him in the groin and Lauren Fanning punched him in the back of the neck.

A witness, who attempted to assist the detective, also was allegedly punched in the face by Lauren Fanning, according to the arrest slips.

[Lt. Col. Yvette Gentry] said at one point, Lauren Fanning also flashed her police badge. “To flash a badge in an incident you’re involved in is not appropriate,” Gentry said.

When Lauren Fanning was arrested, police found a half-empty bottle of Early Times whiskey in her purse. Kathryn Fanning had half a bottle of vodka in her purse, police said.

Kathryn Fanning was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, disorderly conduct, assault of a police officer and resisting arrest. She also is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.

This isn’t the only case of objectionable behavior by an LMPD officer as of late, but whatever: We’ve obtained never-before-seen footage from WikiLeaks and we are not afraid to use it.

After weeks of anticipation, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed selected interim Chief George N. Turner as the nominee to fill the southern city’s police chief position, overlooking Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White, who had been a candidate for the job. It is the second time this year that White has been passed over for a police chief position in another city. In April, he applied to be the chief at the Dallas Police Department, but was rejected.

Since Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, who hired White in 2003, announced that he is not seeking re-election, the chief has been job hunting. However, White told the Courier-Journal that he doesn’t plan to pursue other job openings and will wait on the decision from the next mayor. And at least one of the candidates in the race for mayor of Louisville is promising to retain White.

“Chief White and his team have made Louisville one of America’s safest large cities,” Democratic mayoral candidate Greg Fischer said in a statement. “If the voters elect me in November, I will keep him as our top law enforcement officer.”

White and Fischer have had conversations about him staying on board if the Louisville businessman wins the general election in November. Republican mayoral candidate and Metro Councilman Hal Heiner, R- 19, and independent mayoral candidate Jackie Green have not indicated who they’d select as police chief.

The fire next time: The $43.5million settlement that firefighters are set to receive from the city over miscalculated overtime pay pleases most of the union, says Craig Willman, president of Louisville Professional Firefighters Local 345. An ordinance outlining the specifics of the settlement will be filed with the Metro Council and could be assigned a committee as early as next month.

A fair fight: On the 10-year anniversary of Louisville’s Fairness Ordinance, which extended civil rights protections locally, Congress is sending a bill to President Obama extending hate crime protections to the LGBT community. The measure represents one of the largest extensions of the law since it was enacted in 1968 after the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The bill was named for Matthew Shepard, the gay Wyoming college student murdered 11 years ago adn passed the Senate by a 68 – 29 vote.
