The Greater Louisville Project announced that the grassroots movement 8664 is the winner of its Create Louisville: Your Big Idea project, but the group won’t get a one-on-one sit down with Mayor Greg Fischer as originally promised. The contest was designed to engage citizens, elicit fresh thinking and new ideas about the city, and garnered [...]

Tolls from around the world!

While the upcoming Ohio River Bridges Project “industry forum” is sure to attract investors the world over, we thought this bit of international news involving a Chinese man who was sentenced to life in prison and fined millions in Chinese yuan for evading toll roads might pique your interest. The BBC story also features a [...]

Notes from latest Bridges Authority meeting

Because precious little new information was actually revealed at yesterday’s meeting of the Louisville and Southern Indiana Bridges Authority, we shall only focus on those most pertinent, most egregious facts — chief among them details pertaining to the so-called Industry Development Forum, whereby finaciers and contractors the world over will get a chance to view the suppleness [...]

Small victory for common sense in Ohio River Bridges Project… maybe?

First Indiana Gov. Mitch “The Poor Can Eat Shit & Die” Daniels says he wants to “downsize” the $4.1. billion Ohio River Bridges Project, and, just a week later, his buddy, Kentucky Gov. Steve “Dino Rider” Beshear, announces that he wants to do the same thing… but that’s not all!

Daniels wants to “downsize” East End bridge (UPDATE)

Indiana Governor Mitch “My State Doesn’t Have A Deficit Because We’ve Privatized Everything & We Hate the Poor” Daniels recently told the New Albany News & Tribune that the East End bridge component of the $4.1 billion Ohio River Bridges Project could be “downsized” for reasons that are nonsensical. If you’ve never been to a meeting of the Louisville Southern Indiana Bridges Authority, then you’re really missing out on some of the best performance art going down in Kentuckiana. Like highly skilled artists, the 14 appointees to the bi-state authority sit around their conjoined conference tables, surrounded by media and a fascinated (if not [...]

Before the Louisville-Southern Indiana Bridges Authority votes on a financial plan to pay for the $4.1 billion Ohio River Bridges Project, an anti-tolling organization is calling for its members to reveal any potential conflicts of interest. “The public needs to know if ‘Tolling’ Authority members or their families have ties to Wall Street banks or [...]

Anti-toll group sends petition to U.S. Dept. of Transportation

The grassroots Say No To Bridge Tolls  (SNTBT) group has gathered more than 10,000 signatures in an effort to petition the federal government to stop — please god, stop — the prospect of using tolls to pay for the $4.1 billion Ohio River Bridges Project. From a press release disseminated yesterday: On Monday, November 22, [...]

New Bridges Coalition video talks … carpentry?

So you’ve got this stool, OK? And this stool has, uh, three legs, see? Because it’s a three-legged stool? And, uh, if you remove one or two of the legs, then the stool falls over and destroys Kentuckiana’s ability to compete economically and makes Bob Vila fly into a rage … did you get all [...]
